Human Resources Generalist Job Summary

A skilled nursing and long-term care facility in New Orleans is hiring an Entry-Level Human Resources Generalist to support daily HR operations, employee onboarding, recruiting, benefits administration, personnel-file management, and employee relations.

This full-time opportunity is ideal for a candidate beginning their Human Resources career who has some prior experience in HR, recruiting, staffing, healthcare administration, payroll, office administration, or employee relations. The successful candidate will be organized, professional, detail-oriented, and able to handle confidential employee information in a fast-paced nursing home environment.
Responsibilities

Support recruitment efforts for nursing home and long-term care employees, including CNAs, nurses, dietary staff, housekeeping, maintenance, and administrative personnel.

Coordinate candidate interviews, pre-employment screenings, background checks, drug screens, reference checks, and new-hire paperwork.

Assist with employee onboarding, orientation, and required compliance documentation.
p]:pt-0 [&> p]:mb-2 [&> p]:my-0">
Maintain accurate, confidential personnel files, HR records, credential files, and employee documentation.

Help monitor employee licenses, certifications, training requirements, and other healthcare compliance records.

Respond to routine employee questions related to benefits, timekeeping, attendance, PTO, leave requests, workplace policies, and HR procedures.

Assist with benefits enrollment, employee status changes, and communication with insurance and benefit providers.

Support payroll and timekeeping processes by reviewing attendance, missed punches, and submitted employee documentation.

Assist leadership with employee relations matters, performance documentation, corrective actions, investigations, and workplace concerns.

Help coordinate employee engagement, recognition, retention, and training initiatives.

Maintain compliance with company policies, applicable employment laws, and long-term care facility requirements.

Perform other HR and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
p]:pt-0 [&> p]:mb-2 [&> p]:my-0">
Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.

Prior experience in Human Resources, recruiting, staffing, payroll, healthcare administration, office administration, or employee relations preferred.

This is an entry-level HR position ; however, candidates must have some professional experience supporting HR, recruiting, staffing, or administrative functions.

Experience in a nursing home, skilled nursing facility, hospital, senior living community, healthcare staffing agency, or healthcare setting is a plus.

Strong organizational skills, accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to manage confidential personnel and medical-related employee information with discretion.

Comfortable using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.

Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a busy healthcare environment.

Knowledge of Louisiana employment laws, HR compliance, long-term care regulations, or payroll/timekeeping systems is preferred but not required.
