Travel RN - Telemetry

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN - Telemetry with 2 years of medical-surgical experience for a fast-paced 23-bed unit specializing in orthopedic and GI surgical patients.

Job Details

• > with cardiac and O2 monitoring capability,
• 23-bed medical surgical unit caring for orthopedic, spine, general surgery, and bariatric patients,
• Unit receives an average of 10-20 post-op patients daily and may take overflow from medicine areas,
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:30,
• 14-week assignment length,
• Float to other units within skillset or to a nearby affiliate hospital as needed,

Job Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or KY State),
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required in specialty,
• First-time travelers considered only with several years of experience caring for post-op orthopedic and GI surgery patients,
• Current BLS certification required,
• Must pass EKG exam during onboarding,
• Skilled in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management,
• Experience with IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and PICC line management,
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management,
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE,
• Experience with surgical drains, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacement care,

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care to a busy post-surgical patient population,
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration,
• Expected to work 3 of 5 Winter holidays,
• Returning permanent staff must be gone from all affiliated facilities for 6 months before returning as a traveler,
• All requested time off must be disclosed prior to securing the assignment
