Travel RN - ICU

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a Neuro ICU position in Lexington, KY, with strong neuro experience preferred and night shift availability required.

Job Details

• 19-bed Neurosurgical ICU (2B North ICU) treating CVA, neurosurgical, carotid surgery, carotid stent, stroke, sepsis, cardiac intervention, and complex surgical post-op patients,
• Supports a comprehensive stroke program for critical care placement,
• Night shift: 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hrs/week),
• Requires 3-4 weekend shifts per month,
• 13-week contract,

Job Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky or a compact state,
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and Annual Dysrhythmia Competency Validation,
• ADN or ASN required; BSN preferred,
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a staff ICU role prior to traveling,
• Recent acute/critical care travel experience required,
• Strong Neuro ICU experience highly preferred; experienced ICU nurses who have cared for neuro patients will be considered,
• Current references from leadership (unit manager, coordinator, or director) required for consideration,
• MM/DD of date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, and direct patient care for critically ill neuro and surgical ICU patients,
• Collaborates with an inter-professional team to coordinate admissions, transfers, discharges, and individualized treatment planning,
• Provides patient and family education, including discharge teaching and coordination with Case Management,
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement activities including patient satisfaction, falls prevention, pressure ulcer prevention, and CAUTI reduction,
• Nursing practice is evidence-based and guided by hospital policies, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines
