CNC Machinist - Night ShiftThe primary functions include operating multi-axes computer numerical control (CNC) milling machines or lathes to machine surfaces of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the Major Responsibilities, including the following:Loads material in machine. Starts machine and observes cutting operationAbility to finish set up of a machine with minimal assistance and within a reasonable time frameMakes offsets independently to finish the set-up processSets up and replaces tools without supervisionRecognizes tool wear before dimensions are affectedAbility to make basic changes to programs on machinesCompares numerical data display with specifications on operations sheetAdjusts tool lengths and fixture offsets if requiredMonitors tooling usage for maximum cost effectivenessResponsible for the accuracy and quality of the partAbility to understand and document requirements of Inspecting PlansAuthorized to stop processes to ensure qualityResponsible for machine turnovers to adjacent shift operatorsWorks overtime as requiredOther duties as assignedAssociate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or at least one-year related experience and/or training.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, routers and inspections procedures. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Ability to read and understand G and M code programming.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry or ability to use a trig book. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations preferred.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Demonstrates mechanical aptitude. Operates basic measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, surface plate checks and optical comparators.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
