Director, Regional Accounting and Reporting

Our comprehensive range of products and services covers every link of the integrated supply chain – from maritime and inland terminals to marine services and industrial parks as well as technology-driven customer solutions.The Director, Regional Accounting and Reporting serves as the senior accounting leader for the Americas Regional Office and is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting, controllership, governance and financial transformation activities of the Regional Office and coordination of financial reporting across 10+ business units throughout North and South America.This role ensures compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), maintains a strong internal control environment, and partners closely with Regional Leadership, Global Group Accounting, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, and Business Unit Finance teams to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality financial reporting. The position plays a key leadership role in driving accounting excellence, process standardization, operational efficiencies, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Americas region.In addition to traditional controllership responsibilities, the role serves as a key driver of finance transformation across the Americas region. The incumbent is expected to champion an AI-enabled and data-driven mindset, identifying, developing, and implementing innovative technologies, automation, and artificial intelligence solutions that improve productivity, enhance operational efficiency, strengthen financial controls, and increase confidence in financial and operational data. The position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the availability of accurate, reliable, and timely information that supports strategic decision-making across the region.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESDIGITAL FINANCE TRANSFORMATIONChampion the adoption of AI-enabled tools, automation technologies, and advanced analytics solutions across accounting, reporting, and controllership functionsIdentify opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to improve productivity, streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance decision-making capabilitiesPartner with Finance, IT, Data, and Business teams to design, develop, test, and implement technology solutions that improve financial processes and reporting outcomesEvaluate and modernize existing finance processes through automation, robotics, workflow optimization, and AI-driven solutions while maintaining strong control environmentsAct as a change agent, fostering innovation and encouraging teams to embrace new technologies and continuous improvement opportunitiesACCOUNTING LEADERSHIP & FINANCIAL REPORTINGLead accounting, controllership, and financial reporting activities for the Americas Regional OfficeEnsure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, Group Accounting Policies, and corporate reporting requirementsOversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes and ensure adherence to corporate reporting deadlinesReview and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, balance sheet analyses, and financial reporting packagesPerform analytical reviews of income statements, balance sheets, and key financial metrics across regional entitiesREGIONAL REPORTING OVERSIGHTCoordinate and oversee financial reporting activities across 10+ business units throughout North and South AmericaPartner with Finance Directors, Controllers, and Finance Leadership teams throughout the region to ensure consistency in accounting treatment, reporting quality, and compliance with Group accounting policiesAct as a regional accounting contact between Business Units and Global Group AccountingDrive alignment of accounting practices and reporting standards across the regionTECHNICAL ACCOUNTING & IFRSServe as one of the regional subject matter experts on IFRS accounting standards and financial reporting requirementsResearch, evaluate, and document accounting conclusions for complex, unusual, and non-routine transactionsLead the implementation of new IFRS standards, accounting guidance, and regulatory requirementsPrepare and review technical accounting memoranda and accounting position papers as requiredPartner with Global Group Accounting to ensure consistent interpretation and application of accounting policies across the organization.CONTROLLERSHIP & INTERNAL CONTROLSMaintain a strong internal control environment and ensure compliance with company policies and financial governance requirementsEvaluate accounting processes and identify opportunities to strengthen controls, improve efficiency, and reduce operational riskEnsure appropriate accounting procedures, controls, and documentation are maintained throughout the regionSupport internal and external auditsDrive process improvement, automation, and standardization initiatives across accounting and reporting functionsLeverage automation, artificial intelligence, and data analytics capabilities to strengthen controls, improve monitoring effectiveness, reduce risk, and enhance confidence in financial reportingTREASURY, BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP & CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATIONPartner closely with Treasury to support cash management, liquidity planning, and related accounting activitiesCollaborate with Tax, FP&A, Legal, HR, Procurement, and Operational teams on key business initiativesSupport acquisitions, restructurings, integrations, and other strategic projects as requiredLead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals through direct and indirect management responsibilitiesEstablish departmental goals and performance expectations aligned accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional growthQUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field requiredMaster's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, preferredCertified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or equivalent professional accounting designation required12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including significant controllership, financial reporting, and accounting leadership responsibilitiesMinimum 5 years of people leadership experience, including managing managers and developing high-performing teamsExperience within multinational organizations with operations spanning multiple countries and legal entitiesDemonstrated experience overseeing monthly close, financial reporting, internal controls, and technical accounting matters in a complex business environmentExperience coordinating and influencing geographically dispersed finance teamsPublic accounting experience with a Big Four or large international accounting firm preferredExperience supporting logistics, transportation, supply chain, infrastructure, industrial, or other complex multinational operations preferredExpert-level knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and financial reporting requirementsStrong knowledge of financial controls, governance, and accounting best practicesExperience researching and applying technical accounting guidance to complex transactionsStrong understanding of financial statement preparation and consolidation principlesExperience with enterprise ERP systems required; Oracle Fusion experience preferredAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills, including large data set analysis, pivot tables, lookup functions, and
