About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 17 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty with 1 travel assignment License: Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med Surg skills, some cardiac skills preferred Description: This position involves caring for patients on a medical-surgical unit. The nurse will manage both admission hold patients and discharge pending patients. Common tasks include medication administration, monitoring patient status, and providing basic care. The nurse will assist with complex toileting needs, administer oxygen, and check blood sugars. The nurse will not care for patients requiring IV drips or active infections requiring isolation precautions. There will be a charge nurse available, who may also take on patients. A certified nursing assistant will be present to assist with patient care. Equipment such as vents, CPAP, and high flow devices will be present, with RNs troubleshooting when necessary. There is no requirement for RNs to read telemetry strips. Weekends are required on an every other weekend basis. Floating to a medical-surgical unit may occur if census is low. Scrub color includes Caribbean blue or white, with specific dress code standards. Basic Med Surg skills are essential for this role. Candidates should be able to provide quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
