TEMPORARY INTERNSHIP EMPLOYEE - NORTH STERLING STATE PARK.

Overview This is an internship position. The time will be divided between Maintenance, Park Ranger, Visitor Services, and Interpretive/Education Programs. Internship positions will also assist in revenue collection and verification, accounting and deposits, visitor services operations, education and interpretive programs. This position will assist with all areas of daily park operations, ensuring quality customer service, facility maintenance, and cleaning. Positions will operate and perform routine maintenance on state-owned vehicles and equipment. The position provides information and assistance to visitors. The park will provide some uniform items, but employees will be required to purchase other items at their own expense. This position is up to 40 hours per week and up to nine months in duration. School schedules MAY be accommodated. Responsibilities Assist in daily park operations across Maintenance, Park Ranger, Visitor Services, and Interpretive/Education Programs. Assist with revenue collection, verification, accounting, and deposits; support visitor services operations and education/interpretive programs. Perform general park maintenance and cleaning of facilities (restrooms, vault toilets, campsites, picnic areas, trails). Operate and perform routine maintenance on State-owned vehicles and equipment. Provide information and assistance to visitors; participate in habitat projects, trails projects, and Aquatic Nuisance Species program support. Assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and transporting materials as needed. Minimum Qualifications Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be free of felony convictions or pending charges; consideration given to other violations of law. Must have or be able to attain First Aid and CPR certifications. Must be able to perform physical work in adverse conditions. Must be able to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays. Must complete a comprehensive background check. Must have ability to work with little supervision. Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills. Physical Requirements These positions may require activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
