Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience, preferably in adult medical-surgical nursing or an acute-care setting
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license or documented confirmation that the licensure process has been initiated
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Clinical experience with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes
• Ability to provide safe, effective nursing care for a patient assignment that may vary based on acuity and shift needs
• Epic experience preferred; previous travel nursing experience or Level I trauma experience is a plus

Adult Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adults with conditions including cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, and behavioral health or addiction-related needs
• Complete patient assessments, administer medications and treatments, monitor patient status, and promptly communicate changes in condition
• Care for patients with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes according to established clinical standards
• Monitor patients using house-wide telemetry and recognize and report significant rhythm or clinical changes
• Collaborate with patient care technicians, respiratory therapists, providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Document patient care accurately in Epic
• Float to other acute-care medical-surgical areas, including nephrology, neurology, orthopedics, or oncology, as needed
• Support safe transitions of care through patient education, discharge planning, and clear handoff communication
