Service Manager - Power & HVAC

Job Overview United Rentals is hiring a Service Manager for the Power/HVAC Division. The role leads a maintenance enterprise, supervising technicians, ensuring safety and quality, and contributing to profitable operation. Key Responsibilities Supervise preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment such as Silent Diesel Generators (20 kW to 1.5 MW), Air‑Cooled Chillers (10 to 400 Tons), Rental Industry Air‑Conditioners (5 to 40 Tons), Desiccant Dehumidifiers, Negative Air Machines, Electrical Distribution, and Load Banks. Motivate, coach, and train technicians to exceed time & quality standards and comply with repair and maintenance processes. Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed at all times. Build strong customer relationships through high‑quality, timely service. Apply United Rentals policies to maximize productivity while maintaining a safe work environment. Manage shop operating expenses. Lead, plan, measure, and continuously improve service and maintenance performance metrics. Meet regularly with Branch Managers to report problems and discuss solutions. Perform other duties as assigned. Key Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 3–5 years of operations and shop management experience in repairing and maintaining the equipment listed above. Intermediate to advanced diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic, and other systems. Advanced knowledge of heavy equipment, manufacturers’ warranty processes, and work‑order/time‑spent accounting. Experience with diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems allowing independent assessment and diagnosis. Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Strong motivational and leadership skills. Excellent customer service skills. Strong knowledge of maintenance accounting and P&L. Basic computer skills (Excel).
