This opportunity entails being responsible for technical input within one or more specific practice areas in Advisory. This position acts as a consultant in their area of expertise by providing strategic analysis to key clients to ensure successful project and program delivery and client satisfaction. This position supports senior Advisory team members to develop and promote subject matter expertise and best practices in targeted practice areas. What You'll Do Apply commercial expertise and guidance on project structures, risk allocation, delivery options and contract terms for innovative delivery contracts. Coordinate commercial considerations across all disciplines within programs. Develop and implement procurement documentation and strategies. Engage with industry participants to define and optimize commercial structures and provisions. Act as subject matter expert to provide strategic advice and analysis, and engage in marketing and business development, as well as preparing reports and presentations to HNTB leadership and senior client personnel. Assist with the successful contracting and execution of projects, working closely with regional HNTB staff and office leadership. Support tasks and major workstreams, interface with senior Advisory and client leadership to ensure effective delivery while managing client relationships and day‑to‑day interactions with appropriate counterparts. Prepare technical materials for client engagements, including strategic analyses, commercial documentation, technical provisions, procurement documents, and other materials pertaining to applicable subject matter focus. Train and instruct line personnel on innovative delivery and other Advisory disciplines. Advise on business planning and support marketing efforts of the line organization. Work with the line organization in a senior support role on strategically important client and project pursuits, providing strategic input and market knowledge to expand service offerings and enhance win probabilities. Mentor and oversee the work of junior Advisory staff through performance management and encouragement of professional development opportunities. Contribute to strategic planning for Advisory and assist with thought leadership initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. What You'll Need Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 10 years of relevant experience. Master's degree in a relevant field and 8 years of relevant experience. PhD/JD in a relevant field and 6 years of relevant experience. What We Prefer Majority of work experience in a directly relevant role, including as a consultant leading advisory engagements. Specialized knowledge and strong experience in the relevant practice group (EOR, ID, PM or ST) – i.e., these are senior SMEs. Broad knowledge of the infrastructure industry, key players, policies, existing programs, and precedent transactions. Strong professional connections across the infrastructure industry, well known and respected by industry peers, active in industry organizations. Excellent communications, writing, quantitative skills. Professional demeanor, able to independently interface with senior client leaders. Strategic thinker, able to see the broader picture beyond their assigned role and identify and advance opportunities to enhance service offerings. Possesses subject matter expertise (legal, financial, commercial, technical). Deep understanding of consulting business and key value drivers for HNTB.
