The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department manages and operates a 481-bed Jail which contains a combination of direct supervision and remote supervision housing pods. It is a maximum-security facility which houses male and female, pre-trial and sentenced offenders. The Department is also responsible for inmates who have release privileges for work, education, child or elder care, and treatment programs. It employs approximately 160 corrections staff. Minimum Training & Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED. One (1) year of post high school work experience, preferably in a civil or military law enforcement unit or detention facility. One (1) year of post high school education/training can be substituted to fulfill the work experience requirement. Valid driver's license. In addition to the above, candidates must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the essential job functions as listed in the Correctional Officer ADA Functions Worksheet. Criminal History and Background Check : Candidates will need to pass a background investigation conducted by the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.
