Embark on a rewarding opportunity working with elementary and middle school students as a Special Education Teacher in a resource classroom setting. This contract position offers two openings, allowing professionals to specify their preference for either an elementary or middle school caseload. You will provide targeted instructional support to a manageable group of students, fostering academic growth and positive development in a collaborative educational environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Michigan Special Education (SPED) teaching license (submit proof with your application)
• Experience supporting students in resource or inclusive settings
• Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations
• Ability to collaborate with fellow educators, support staff, and families
• Effective communication skills and a positive, student-centered approach

Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with disabilities
• Case manage a caseload of approximately 10 elementary or 11 middle school students
• Work in partnership with general education teachers to implement IEPs and modifications
• Track and document student progress, maintaining compliance with state and federal guidelines
• Participate actively in IEP meetings, staff training, and professional development
• Create a supportive, inclusive classroom climate that encourages student participation
• Adjust teaching techniques and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles

This position features a consistent 35-hour workweek and follows school bell schedules at both elementary and high school sites, allowing for work-life balance and predictability. Start as soon as possible, with the contract potentially extending through June 2027.
