Take your expertise in Special Education to a welcoming Michigan school district, where two contract opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers. These positions support resource classrooms at the elementary and middle school levels. Candidates have the flexibility to specify their preferred grade range.
You’ll provide direct support for students in a resource setting, collaborating closely with general educators and support staff. The roles are available at East Leroy Elementary and Athens High School, serving a manageable caseload of 10 elementary or 11 middle school students. Enjoy a set Monday–Friday schedule in a collaborative and inclusive educational environment from now through June 2027.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Michigan Special Education Teaching License required (please provide a copy or screenshot upon submission)
- Experience in resource classrooms or comparable special education settings
- Strong communication skills for teamwork with staff, students, and families
- Ability to design and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Familiarity with K-8 curriculum and special education best practices
- Adaptability and a problem-solving mindset
Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction and academic support in resource classrooms
- Develop and deliver lessons based on IEP goals for each student
- Monitor, evaluate, and document student progress
- Engage in regular collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Communicate proactively with parents and guardians
- Help maintain an inclusive, positive learning environment
