Senior Accountant (Contract)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join client's team on a contract basis. This role will play a critical part in supporting the month-end close process, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Location: Charlotte, NC (Southwest) Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite Job Type: Contract Pay: $40/hour - $47/hour

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items timely.
• Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and other key financial accounts.
• Analyze financial results and investigate variances and discrepancies.
• Maintain supporting documentation and schedules for audit readiness.
• Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Partner with accounting and operational teams to improve processes and efficiencies.
• Support external audits and provide requested documentation as needed.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience in a senior accountant or lead accountant capacity.
• Experience supporting audits and financial statement preparation.
• Track record of identifying process improvements and increasing efficiency within accounting operations.
