We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to join a contract assignment supporting payroll operations in Pineville, North Carolina. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can maintain continuity, partner closely with HR and finance teams, and oversee accurate payroll processing for a large U.S. employee population. The position requires strong expertise in ADP Workforce Now, including direct payroll administration experience, and the ability to navigate complex pay practices with precision and sound judgment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for roughly 800 employees across the United States, including weekly union payroll cycles and biweekly pay runs for salaried and non-exempt staff.

• Maintain payroll accuracy by reviewing time records, resolving discrepancies, and making post-payroll adjustments in environments where non-exempt employees are paid on a current basis.

• Administer payroll-related activities such as tax handling, wage garnishments, employee onboarding updates, separations, status changes, and time and attendance review.

• Partner with benefits, HR, accounting, and business leadership to ensure payroll data is aligned and employee records are maintained correctly within ADP Workforce Now.

• Perform payroll audits, prepare reports, and strengthen internal controls to support compliance, consistency, and accurate recordkeeping.

• Serve as a key contact for payroll system support by working directly with ADP and troubleshooting issues related to payroll processing and employee data.

• Identify opportunities to streamline manual payroll tasks and contribute to process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce errors.

• Support payroll activities connected to commission payments by coordinating with the team member responsible for commission imports and related inputs.

• Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll for a workforce of 800 or more employees.

• Hands-on expertise with ADP Workforce Now payroll administration is required.

• Background processing multi-state payroll with strong knowledge of payroll compliance practices.

• Experience supporting both weekly and biweekly payroll schedules for union, salaried, and non-exempt employee groups.

• Strong understanding of time reconciliation, including identifying missed hours and correcting payroll variances in a paid-current environment.

• Working knowledge of payroll taxes, garnishments, audits, reporting, and employee data maintenance.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with HR, accounting, benefits, and senior leadership while managing sensitive information with discretion
