Description: General comments about the unit:

• Number of beds: 33
• Number of staff: 55
• Day shift team consists of 1 charge nurse, 1 unit secretary, 7-8 RNs, and 2-3 patient care technicians.
• Night shift team consists of 1 charge nurse, 1 unit secretary, 7-8 RNs, and 2 patient care technicians.
• Patient ratios: 5 to 6 patients per nurse.
• Type of equipment includes EKG machines, code carts, vital sign machines, vascular Dopplers, wound vacs, interpreting services, and bedside monitors for rhythm monitoring.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Meditech.

Preferred or nice to have:

• Experience in Medical Surgical nursing
• Excellent patient focus

Typical procedures performed on the unit include:

• Small incisions and drainages
• Peritoneal dialysis
• Thoracentesis (limited frequency)

Dress Code:

• Scrub color: navy
• No cotton jackets; dress code is enforced

Additional information:

The unit is recognized as a hospital of the future, featuring advanced technologies and interactive systems. Renovations are currently underway to enhance patient facilities, including low-profile showers and decorative tiles. This is a Level I trauma facility.
