Onsite Manager

Location: Detroit, MI (onsite) Role type: Permanent, customer-facing engineering leadership A global automation and control systems provider is seeking an experienced engineering leader to manage site support for water and wastewater customers in the Detroit area. This role will lead a high-performing team of site engineers, strengthen customer partnerships with local utilities and treatment facilities, and drive operational excellence in day-to-day engineering support. In this role, your responsibilities will be to: Provide on-site leadership, supporting daily operational and business needs for water/wastewater systems Lead, assign work to, and develop a team of site engineers, fostering growth, accountability, and technical capability Deliver high-quality customer support, including system troubleshooting, field services, system start-ups, upgrades, and execution of smaller-scale projects Build and maintain strong customer relationships to promote satisfaction, trust, and long-term business growth Develop and implement training and development plans to prepare team members for evolving customer and technical needs Collaborate with the local projects leadership to align staffing and support resources with project schedules Support estimating efforts and resource planning for future customer support and business opportunities Drive effective, innovative solutions to customer challenges, strengthening the company’s value in the water and wastewater industry Partner with customers to resolve technical, contractual, and warranty matters while balancing service excellence with business objectives Promote a culture of safety, integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement in all activities Who you are: A relationship-focused leader who seeks to understand customer needs and responds with solutions that create lasting value Clear and intentional in communication, ensuring information supports alignment and informed decision-making Steady and adaptable in uncertainty, taking thoughtful action even when all details are not yet known Able to navigate different perspectives with empathy and professionalism, creating positive interactions that support collaboration Direct and respectful in addressing challenges, maintaining trust and reinforcing a culture of accountability For this role, you will need: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a technical field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience 8+ years of experience in control systems, preferably in water and wastewater applications Experience leading field services or project engineering teams on customer-facing projects Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% domestically Authorization to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship (this role cannot provide visa sponsorship) Preferred qualifications that set you apart: Knowledge of distributed control systems (DCS); experience with Ovation is a plus Background in systems integration Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, or similar credentials Additional information: Based in the Detroit, MI area Relocation assistance available to qualified candidates #J-18808-Ljbffr
