Senior Director, Clinical Science, Breast Oncology (Hybrid)

Merck seeks a Senior Director of Clinical Science for Breast Oncology to lead strategic clinical science initiatives across multiple studies and programs. This hybrid role combines deep therapeutic expertise with portfolio oversight, standardization of clinical practices, and direct management of clinical science staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic clinical science leadership across breast oncology studies, programs, and assets
- Lead standardization of clinical science practices, data review methods, and scientific standards across portfolio
- Guide interpretation of clinical data and support identification of trends, risks, and program implications
- Manage and mentor directors, principal scientists, and clinical scientists within matrix environment
- Contribute clinical science perspective to governance reviews, portfolio discussions, and senior leadership meetings
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of breast cancer disease biology, treatment landscape, and clinical endpoints
- Strategic leadership experience in clinical development or clinical science functions
- Experience managing and developing clinical scientists and cross-functional teams
- Expertise in study design, protocol development, and clinical data interpretation
- Strong collaboration skills across regulatory, biostatistics, safety, and medical affairs functions
- Demonstrated ability to standardize processes and implement innovative scientific approaches
