Program Assistant, Crossroads Community Center

Job Summary City of Bellevue is currently seeking a Program Assistant for the Crossroads Community Center. This position provides daytime, evening, and weekend coverage. The City is seeking an individual that is reliable, trustworthy, and flexible, working independently and in a multifunctional environment. The role is directly involved with providing excellent customer service to the public in a diverse community. Staff must actively engage and supervise program areas in the center as needed. Hours Vary depending on shift; up to 28 hours per week. Coverage consists of days, nights, and weekends. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with daily programs as assigned, including preschool, youth sports, adult sports, and front‑desk assistance. Politely greet and serve customers by providing program and facility information, registration support, account maintenance, and other tasks as needed. Answer and route incoming phone calls and emails. Use CivicRec registration software system on a daily basis. Accurately manage cash, check, and credit‑card transactions, reports, and deposits. Communicate clearly and provide accurate information to the public. Report and follow protocol for any damage, incidents, and injuries using appropriate forms. Report any unsafe situations or conditions. Respond and assist with emergency situations. Supervise youth and teens in designated program areas. Interact and engage with program participants. Check inventory and supplies for front desk, gym, and games room operations. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, agencies, and the public. Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications One or more years of experience in assigned activity or program or in the general parks, recreation and community services field. Experience working in preschool, sports, and community programs. Knowledge of general office procedures and ability to use a computer (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite and Internet Explorer) and office machines (e.g., copy machine, fax, card scanner, cash register). Ability to work independently and on a team in a friendly and professional manner. Strong organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills. Comfortable working with a diverse population. Some background experience working with youth and teens. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to learn and use CivicRec registration software system. Significant and ongoing public contact, maintaining working relationships with patrons. Ability to collaborate and communicate with other staff members. Ability to work in a loud, multifunctional environment with interruptions. Ability to remain calm and composed during sensitive or challenging situations and adapt/respond to a variety of styles and personalities. Planning and implementing activities. Physical Demands The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Vision abilities required include ability to focus for long periods of time. The employee may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually high. Definition of a Variable Employee Average weekly hours cannot be determined at date of hire. Hours may vary from week to week and are anticipated to be 28 hours per week or less. Conditions of Employment All candidates must establish employment authorization and identity at the time of hire. Some positions may require completion of a criminal background check prior to start employment. Some positions may require obtaining a commercial driver's license (CDL), licensures, or additional certifications.
