Operational Account Manager, Freight Operations, Road USAustinNearest Major Market: AustinThe Operational Account Manager, Freight Operations is an integral part of the Road US team's freight brokerage operations and assist with the establishment and development of relationships with customers by providing exceptional customer service. They are responsible for developing the branch's house accounts, while continuously seeking out new growth opportunities with current and new clients and oversee the flow of communication with clients regarding all aspects of the account.Duties & Responsibilities:Develops the overall customer relationship via all methods of communication, phone, email, and in person.Negotiates with transportation carriers and providers to obtain, set rates and determine services available.Researches and determines growth opportunities within the branch's house accounts.Investigate, actions and establishes new customer leads and opportunities.Examines customer requests to provide best service options and pricing available.Proactively handles customer shipment requests.Utilizes our TMS system and provides data input to facilitate material movement, planning, and scheduling.Provides direction and sets pricing guidelines for Carrier Sales team.Monitors shipment tracking progression from pickup through delivery and communicates accurate and up-to-date information to the customer and/or Key Account Manager.Ensures customer expectations are met or exceeded through close communication with Carrier Sales team.Tracks and traces shipments from pickup through delivery to ensure accurate and up-to-date shipment information is being provided to customers.Prepares spend reports as needed and holds regular check ins via QBR or MBR with the customer.Perform other duties, responsibilities, and project work as assigned by manager.Qualifications/Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.College degree in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred.3 years' experience in logistics, transportation brokerage, or related field required, 5+ years preferred.Experience with transportation management systems.Skills & Competencies:Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.Solid analytical experience in Excel required.Driven, enthusiastic, and highly motivated.High attention to detail and ability to multitask.Strong organizational skills.Ability to thrive under deadlines and work in a team environment, while also delivering independent results.Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills, verbal, written and in person.Strong prioritization skills and works with a sense of urgency.Proficiency in using a Windows-based computer.Strong ability to persuade, negotiate, and influence others.Ability to work flexible hours.Strong mathematical skills for pricing, negotiating and project development.Physical Demands:This position is primarily performed in an office-based environment and involves extended periods of sitting while using a computer, telephone, and other standard office equipment. The role requires frequent verbal communication and listening when interacting with internal and external customers, carriers, and team members, both in person and through phone or virtual communication. The position also requires occasional standing and walking within the workplace to meet with internal customers, collaborate with team members, and participate in meetings or other business activities. The employee will regularly use their hands and fingers for typing, operating computer equipment, and handling documents. Occasional reaching, bending, and lifting or carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus when working with computer systems, documents, and other materials.Work Environment:This position is performed in a collaborative, fast-paced freight brokerage environment with frequent interaction with internal and external customers, carriers, and team members. The role requires a balance of independent work and active collaboration to develop and manage customer relationships, coordinate freight, resolve service issues, identify growth opportunities, and support day-to-day brokerage operations. The employee will primarily work indoors in a professional office setting and may move throughout the workplace to meet with internal customers, team members, or other business partners. The position involves frequent use of computers, telephones, Transportation Management Systems, email, and virtual communication platforms while managing multiple time-sensitive customer and operational priorities. The noise level is generally moderate and may vary based on office activity, conversations, and telephone communication. The role may occasionally require access to operational areas, such as a warehouse or shipping dock, where applicable safety requirements and personal protective equipment must be followed. Extended or adjusted working hours may occasionally be required based on customer, shipment, or operational needs. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
