Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough physical examinations and health assessments to evaluate student health status.
• Diagnose, treat, and manage both acute and chronic conditions as they pertain to the school population.
• Prescribe medications and develop tailored treatment plans that adhere to health standards and educational needs.
• Administer required immunizations and vaccinations in line with state regulations and school health policies.
• Provide health counseling on nutrition, exercise, mental health, and other lifestyle choices relevant to young people.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as blood work and imaging when necessary, coordinating care with specialists as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and community resources to promote a healthy school environment.
• Maintain detailed and accurate medical records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and safeguarding student confidentiality.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Family Nurse Practitioner will primarily focus on a pediatric and adolescent patient population, addressing a wide range of health issues, from preventive care to chronic conditions. The role will involve engaging with students, parents, and faculty to foster a culture of health within the school, supporting students’ academic performance through health initiatives.

Qualifications

• Education: A Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, with a specialization in Family Nurse Practice.
• Licensure: An active Nurse Practitioner license issued by the state of New York is required for this role.
• Certification: Valid certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working with patients across the lifespan, particularly in pediatrics is essential.

Preferred Experience

Experience working in a school-based health setting or a community health environment will be highly valued. Familiarity with immunization schedules specific to school-aged children and adolescents is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Desert Care Medical Group offers a competitive salary ranging from $150,000 to $160,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
