We are a pediatric Speech and Occupational clinic that hires dedicated, kind therapists to help our community live their best lives! We are looking to add another wonderful Occupational Therapist to our group! If you are an energetic, independent, and experienced OT that loves to collaborate, this could be the position for you!
Scheduling of clients may be flexible, but full time case load is preferred.
We are looking for a committed and patient-focused Occupational Therapist to develop, recover or maintain the daily living and work skills of children with physical, mental or developmental conditions. You will offer effective and client-centered services that will enable people to confidently and independently carry out everyday tasks or activities. The successful candidate will have an holistic perspective and will be able to adapt the environment to fit the person. Our team loves to learn and teach each other. The ideal applicant would be interested in expanding their knowledge through CEUs, group/team study, and teaching each other. Continuing education refuels our energy to help and serve each other and our community!
Responsibilities
- Address child’s aspects of performance to support engagement in occupations that affect health, well-being and life quality
- Select and adapt the appropriate per case occupational therapy treatment model, method and approach to direct the process of interventions
- Apply interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL)
- Teach children new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components
- Recommend adaptive equipment and train in its use
- Guide and educate family members and caregivers
- Observe, note, and report on progress of long and short term treatment goals
- Collect data and document processes followed to administer a full assessment and treatments
- Regularly follow-up with clients
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with licensed occupational therapists to develop and implement effective treatment plans for pediatric patients.Working under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Provide occupational therapy interventions designed to improve children's fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, coordination, emotional regulation, and activities of daily living.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient progress, treatment plans, and other relevant information including monitoring long and short term treatment goal progression. Complete required documentation in a timely manner using CPT’s electronic medical records system.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with parents, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient progress, treatment goals, and home-based activities to support continuity of care.
- Assessment: Participate in the assessment of pediatric patients to gather relevant information for treatment planning andassistin providing updates on progress towards plan of care.
- Equipment Setup: Assist in the setup and maintenance of therapy equipment, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for therapy sessions.
- Mobility: Ability to move around freely and frequently throughout the sensory gym and smaller treatment rooms.
- Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers to manipulate therapy tools, assist with exercises, and perform delicate tasks is required. This includes the ability to safely handle and operate specialized equipment.
- Lifting and Carrying: Must have the ability to lift and carry equipment, supplies, and occasionally, young patients.This may involve lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
- Stooping, Kneeling, and Bending: Regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend to engage with children at their level, including during assessment and intervention activities.
- Standing and Walking: Ability to stand for extended periods and walk throughout the day, as therapy sessions may involve active engagement and supervision of children in various activities.
- Visual and Auditory Acuity: Must possess the visual and auditory acuity to observe patient responses, monitor environment safety, and effectively communicate with patients, caregivers, and colleagues.
- Endurance: Capacity to maintain energy and stamina for prolonged periods, especially on busy days with back-to-back sessions.
- Flexibility and Agility: Ability to demonstrate and assist with therapeutic exercises which may require flexibility and agility, ensuring safe and effective engagement in activities designed for pediatric patients.
- Patient Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and well-being of pediatric patients, promoting a family-centered approach to care.
- Professional Development: Stay updated on the latest developments in pediatric occupational therapy through continuing education and training opportunities.
- Address aspects of child’s performance to support engagement in occupations that affect health, well-being and life quality.
- Apply interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL).
- Recommend adaptive equipment and train in its use.
- Guide and educate family members and caregivers.
- Regularly follow-up with clients and parents.
- Follow Clinic Policies and Procedures. Help parents understand Parent policies
- Any other necessary actions to help your team.
Skills
- Proven working experience as occupational therapist, 3+ years preferred
- Excellent knowledge of principles and practices of occupational therapy
- Hands-on experience with computer programs and creative media
- Familiarity with ADLs evaluation tools
- Ability to manage patients with different types of personalities
- Current knowledge of treatment practices per discipline and drive to continually learn and grow in the profession
- Professional behavior
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Valid license to practice occupational therapy
- Ability to supervise a COTA, if needed
