Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Information Location: Asheville, NC Floor: 5th floor Building: Owen Heart Center (Heart Tower) General Information Number of Beds: 40 Staffing: Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 bedside nurses, 4 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), 1 Unit Secretary Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 bedside nurses, 3 PCTs Patient Ratios: 1:4, stretch staffing at 1:5 ratio Patient Type: Patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Myocardial Infarction (MI), Chest Pain (CP), arrhythmia, Pulmonary Hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), post cardiac cath/stent, post pacemaker/ICD/ablation. Equipment: Zoll, Baxter pump, lift equipment, bladder scanner Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Cerner Qualifications Required Skills: Stepdown or progressive care experience Telemetry experience Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, bumetanide/Lasix, etc. Preferred Skills: Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin) Relief charge experience Typical Procedures: Bedside Cardioversion Personality Fit Seeking candidates who are flexible, have a positive attitude, are great team players, and possess compassion. Certification Requirements BLS (Basic Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Floating Areas All MedSurg units, Stepdown units, COVID unit, and ER holding.
