Shift: 12-Hour Nights (12H Night Shifts)

Hours/Week: 36-40 hours (based on 3-4 shifts/week)

Employment Type: Travel RN

Licensure/Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH, PALS, CPI or MOAB (required)

Experience: 2+ years of recent ER experience

Hourly Pay Rate: $50.25/hour

What You'll Do

• Provide high-quality emergency care to a diverse patient population, including adults and geriatric patients.
• Manage 85-95 patient visits daily, with a typical RN:Patient ratio of 1:3.
• Perform IV starts, continuous patient monitoring, and rapid assessment of patient severity.
• Handle a variety of cases such as respiratory distress, diabetic emergencies, strokes, cardiac issues, minor traumas, and mental health concerns.
• Collaborate with charge nurses, hospitalists, RTs, and other team members to ensure seamless patient care.
• Document thoroughly utilizing Meditech Expanse EMR system.
• Maintain a safe and efficient environment, demonstrating competency in EKG interpretation and patient stabilization.
• Support unit operations including phlebotomy and patient monitoring, as required.

What You Need

• Required:
• Active RN license in Louisiana or eligible to obtain
• BLS, ACLS, NIH, PALS certifications
• 2+ years recent ER experience (first-time travelers need 2 years of perm staff RN experience in acute care)
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam before start date
• Comfort with hall bed assignments and holding admitted patients in the ED
• Strong multitasking and clinical assessment skills
• Preferred:
• Experience in high-acuity emergency settings
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible and adaptable to varying patient needs and unit demands

About the Assignment This ER is a busy 21-bed department with a fast-paced environment, caring for a wide range of patient ages from newborns to geriatrics. The unit handles numerous complex cases daily, including strokes, cardiac emergencies, trauma, and mental health crises. The hospital provides a supportive and traveler-friendly culture, ensuring you have the resources and environment to thrive during your assignment. Orientation includes two days of general hospital onboarding followed by two days on your assigned unit.
