Accounts Payable Specialist

Overview On-Site in Louisville, KY. The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely payment to vendors and suppliers. This role supports day-to-day accounting operations by verifying invoice details, reconciling accounts, resolving discrepancies, and following internal controls and company policies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Review, verify, and process vendor invoices for accuracy, coding, approvals, and supporting documentation. Match invoices to purchase orders, receipts, and other records as needed. Prepare and process payments by check, ACH, wire transfer, or other approved payment methods. Maintain vendor files and ensure records are complete, accurate, and up to date. Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and vendor inquiries in a timely manner. Reconcile vendor statements and accounts payable balances. Monitor payment schedules to ensure timely payments and avoid late fees or duplicate payments. Assist with month-end closing activities, accruals, and accounts payable reporting. Support audits by providing documentation and maintaining organized records. Follow company policies, accounting procedures, and internal control requirements. Qualifications Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered. 1-3 years of accounts payable, accounting, or bookkeeping experience preferred. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and accounts payable processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting or ERP systems. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and handle confidential information professionally. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
