Role Overview: The Business Development Specialist is an integral member of the business development team responsible for driving pipeline growth and increasing sales opportunities through proactive prospecting, lead generation, market research, and trade show participation. This hybrid role is based locally in Dublin, OH and focuses on developing qualified opportunities within the chemical industry. The successful candidate will conduct high-volume outbound outreach, support marketing and business development initiatives, and maintain a strong pipeline within the CRM system. This position requires a solid understanding of commodity chemicals and NASi products, along with the ability to build relationships across internal teams and prospective customers. A Sample of What You’ll Do in This Role: Increase the number of cold calls made against the sales pipeline and develop relationships that convert into sales opportunities Follow up on literature and sample requests to generate and qualify new business opportunities Conduct a high volume of outbound prospecting activities, including cold calling and lead follow-up Build and maintain knowledge of commodity chemicals and manufactured NASi products to effectively support prospecting efforts Maintain strong internal and external relationships across multiple industrial divisions within NASi Perform targeted market research to identify and develop new prospects within chemical industry segments where NASi products provide value Develop and maintain a strong understanding of NASi’s position within the chemical industry to effectively communicate product value and qualify prospects Partner with Business Development to own and maintain the sales pipeline, ensuring it remains current and supports new customer growth Assist marketing with identifying and adding customers to the sales pipeline Identify trade shows and other opportunities to cultivate new prospects and schedule meetings with potential customers Serve as a key contributor in planning, supporting, and operating trade show booths and related activities Track prospecting activities, lead status, and opportunity progression within the company’s CRM system to ensure consistent advancement of opportunities Support lead generation initiatives through participation in key industry trade shows and events Travel occasionally to support industry events, divisional meetings, and other business-related activities What You Bring to the Role: 5+ years of experience in chemical sales or a related field Demonstrated success in cold calling and prospecting within the chemical industry Working knowledge of the chemical industry Experience conducting high-volume outbound prospecting and lead qualification activities Knowledge of commodity chemicals and the ability to learn and communicate the value of manufactured NASi products Experience performing market research and identifying new business opportunities Ability to manage and maintain sales pipelines and support business development activities Basic experience working within a CRM system to add, track, and manage opportunities for the sales team Strong relationship-building skills with customers and internal stakeholders Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Business, or a related field Your Digital & Technology Capabilities: Experience using CRM platforms and digital sales tools to manage pipelines, track prospect activity, and support data-driven decision making Comfort leveraging Microsoft 365 tools, collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams, and AI-enabled tools such as Copilot to improve productivity, research, and customer outreach Ability to analyze prospecting and pipeline data, utilize market intelligence resources, and adopt new technologies that enhance lead generation and business development efforts What Makes You a Great Fit: You are highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously You have strong communication skills that enable you to build remote relationships with customers and internal stakeholders You enjoy collaborating as part of a team and understand the importance of smoothly transitioning qualified opportunities to external sales representatives You're an energetic people person driven by personal and professional growth, confident in initiating conversations and overcoming objections You can embrace rejection as part of the sales process while maintaining a positive and persistent approach You bring the ability to identify, engage, and qualify prospective customers through targeted outreach strategies You enjoy utilizing social media and digital resources to uncover key contacts and decision-makers within target organizations You have the discipline to maintain accurate records and ensure opportunities progress through the sales process effectively Compensation and Benefits: In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $84,000 - $115,000. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, and retirement plan participation, including an employer contribution of up to 7% into your 401(k).
