POSITION TITLE: Chief Executive Officer

POSITION EMPLOYMENT: Full Time

SUPERVISOR TITLE: Board of Directors

STATUS: Exempt

Job Purpose

The Chief Executive Officier is responsible for the management and coordination of all operations and activities for the Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center (SBCOC). The person in this role serves as a key representative of the community and its business members to fulfill the Chamber’s mission. This position must utilize skills including emotional intelligence, business development, project management, goal setting, and self-motivation.

Education

Prefer at least 2 years of experience in a leadership role. Evidence of successful business development and client retention efforts required. Residency in San Diego County required, as this role includes meeting in person with local businesses and elected officials and attending local events.

Graduation from a 4-year college or university desirable, however experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization, may substitute. Event execution, digital marketing, grant writing, and financial operations experience are a plus.

Essential Functions

· Organize and implement programs, special projects, and events which foster economic growth, and serve the Chamber of Commerce members and the betterment of the Solana Beach community.

· Prepare & report all activities and finances to the Chamber Board monthly.

· Represent the Chamber and its members on designated committees and initiatives.

· Recruit and retain Chamber members.

· Assist with grant writing to support business initiatives and chamber events.

· Coordinate and oversee all events.

· Oversee daily office activities.

· Other appropriate duties as determined by the Chamber Board of Directors.

Availability

Must be able to work Monday-Friday, with duties both inside and outside the Chamber office. Must ensure the Chamber & Visitor center office is staffed and open Monday-Friday 10 AM – 3 PM at a minimum. Availability to attend events after hours and on rare weekends, and help cover for other staff when needed, is required.

Other Skills and Abilities

Position requires demonstrated applied skills in relationship building and project managing staff and contractors in a positive and productive way. Must have the ability and inclination to learn other skills and software programs as needed. Ability to work without direct supervision in a small office environment and the ability to hold a valid California Driver License and possess a car that can be used for work purposes required.

This is a salaried full-time W2 position, starting at $55,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on experience.
