Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Job Summary And Responsibilities As our Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), you will perform all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory, applying a high level of technical knowledge to department testing and clinical relevance. Every day you will function consistently in a self-directed manner, utilizing your expertise to conduct a variety of laboratory analyses and contribute to accurate diagnostic information. To be successful in this role, you will possess strong technical knowledge in laboratory testing, complex problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently to ensure the ongoing quality and relevance of departmental testing. Performs cytogenetic testing with a high level of competency according to established protocols. Generates and reports results which are used for making accurate diagnoses and prognoses which influences patient care and management. Responsible for accurate and timely result reporting, including communication and documentation of critical results, and utilizes critical thinking skills and exercises independent judgment to correlate and interpret data. Responsible for operation, maintenance, troubleshooting of instruments and appropriate documentation of activities. Receives specimens, assesses priority, assures appropriate specimen identification, and appropriate specimen type, which may include ordering and processing of hospital registered and outreach patients. Completes required QC and maintenance, consistently recognizing variances and documenting appropriate corrective action, and participates in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures. Job Requirements Required Associate Degree or completion of U.S. Military 50 week course leading to specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist or equivalent role and ASCP MLT certification or equivalent, OR Bachelor Degree in a Science field with applicable clinical experience MLT with ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification within six (6) months of hire Preferred One (1) year of related work experience Where You'll Work Located in Lakewood, Colorado, St. Anthony Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center where we provide a full range of medical specialties and health care services to Denver and the surrounding region through our state-of-the-art medical campus and home base for Flight For Life Colorado.
