Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week available. Every other weekend required. Block scheduling options available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday). 13-week assignments or longer available.

Highlights:

• Fast-paced orthopedic and neuro spine unit with post-surgical and med-surg patient populations
• Patient ratios typically 5-6:1, may flex to 7:1 in extreme cases
• Epic EMR system utilized throughout the facility
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Focus on pain management for orthopedic and spine patients requiring customer service-oriented nursing care
• Float capability required to other med-surg units based on census needs

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with orthopedic experience required
• Epic EMR experience strongly preferred; first-time travelers must have Epic experience
• Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license
• Current certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale required
• ACLS preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Core skills: IV start and insertion, telemetry monitoring, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, pain management including PCA pumps, total joint replacement care, and pre/post neurosurgery patient care
• Charge nurse experience and Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
