For more than ten years, Vornado has been a leader in environmental sustainability among REITs and large commercial landlords in New York.The Senior Accountant for BMS will play a key role in the day to day accounting and financial operations of the BMS division. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting the Divisional Controller - BMS by preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. This is a true hands on accounting role responsible for journal entries, accruals and the overall maintenance of reconciled bank accounts and ledgers.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.Perform general ledger account reconciliations and analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and accruals.Maintain and reconcile bank accounts and subsidiary ledgers.Assist in the preparation and filing of sales tax and other regulatory reports.Collaborate with operations and management teams to address financial variances and resolve outstanding receivables.Support the Divisional Controller with financial analysis, cost tracking, and variance reporting.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing supporting documentation.Job Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting.2–4 years of progressive accounting experience.Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with ERP systems preferred.Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.Strong organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to meet deadlines.Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.The starting salary for this New Jersey based position is expected to be between $85,000 and $100,000 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
