HDR Engineering is currently seeking a Substation Project Manager to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals. Preferred locations: Austin, Ann Arbor, Boise, Bismarck, Billings, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Irvine, Fort Worth, Houston, Honolulu, Kansas City, Madison, Minneapolis, Missoula, Omaha, Phoenix, Portland (OR & ME), Richmond, Raleigh, Sacramento/Folsom, San Diego, Seattle, Spokane, St. Louis, Syracuse. Primary Responsibilities As part of a well-established global Power Delivery practice, you will have the opportunity to manage Substation projects of all sizes and complexities, domestically and potentially abroad. Additionally, you will have the desire to roll up your sleeves and work with the design teams to help execute these projects. Managing and leading projects and programs throughout the entire life cycle. Working independently and/or directing, mentoring, training, and/or supervising one or more project engineers, EITs, coordinators, designers, CADD technicians, and administrative staff. Providing team member oversight over workload, schedule, quality, utilization, morale, and performance. Overseeing non‑engineering components of projects and programs, such as public engagement, county/state/federal agency engagement, permitting, right‑of‑way acquisition, and construction management. Leading the QA/QC process per HDR’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements. Supporting client management and engaging in broader business development activities with existing and target clients in the region and beyond. Coordinating with area and regional leadership and HDR’s Talent Acquisition team to develop a hiring plan to build and grow a group of professionals to meet program and practice needs. Ability to workshare with staff in multiple offices to execute projects. Representing HDR to support marketing and proposal development for new opportunities. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, related field or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2 years of project management experience. FE, PE license preferred, or PMP in lieu of PE. Experience with or exposure to system projection and planning, communication, distribution, and transmission lines as well as public involvement, environmental permitting, and real estate acquisition. Excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field. 7 years of related experience.
