Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into an impactful role supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher in a self-contained autism classroom, located near Barrington, IL. This contract position extends from August 17 through May 26, 2027, offering a consistent schedule of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:45 am to 4:05 pm (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch). You’ll be based at Valley View Elementary, working with a group of eight K-5 students, alongside three paraprofessionals, and collaborating with related service staff dedicated to the program.

Desired Qualifications:

• Current Illinois PEL (Professional Educator License) with LBS1 endorsement required
• Demonstrated experience in special education, preferably in self-contained or autism support settings
• Solid classroom management and differentiated instruction skills
• Ability to foster an inclusive, positive learning environment
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities with both staff and families

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
• Facilitate a supportive, structured learning space that encourages academic and social growth
• Supervise and collaborate with paraprofessional staff in the classroom
• Engage with related service personnel to ensure comprehensive support for each student
• Communicate progress, strategies, and needs effectively with families and school stakeholders
