Overview PH 303: Social, Behavioral, and Community Health Position: Lecturer Semester: Fall 2026 Day/Time: Mondays and Wednesdays, from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Modality: In Person College: College of Education, Health and Human Services Department: Public Health The Department of Public Health at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PH 303 - Social, Behavioral, and Community Health. This course is a 3-unit course taught over the course of the semester. Course Description The course introduces current issues in health from a social science and behavioral perspective. It defines and explores health determinants using an ecological approach, and identifies multilevel influences, risk factors, and health prevention/promotion strategies. PH 303 provides a foundational understanding of public health concepts, tools, approaches and a critical examination of health and disease within populations. Minimum Qualifications A Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) is required. Experience working with college-level students or teaching in an institution of higher learning. Ability to communicate effectively Ability to work cooperatively with core faculty and colleagues Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Preferred Qualifications A doctoral degree in Public Health or a closely related field (e.g. PhD, MD, DrPH, ScD, JD, etc.) Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service. Salary Salary Commensurate With Degree Level And Experience Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,000 per full-time month The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges: CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 – $6,677 per full-time month CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer B - AY: $6,221 – $13,224 per full-time month The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
