Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) - Intensivists

Summary An Advanced Practice Provider functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical: Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests, develops differential diagnoses, implements treatment plans, prescribes/ orders pharmacological agents, schedules follow‑up, conducts preventive health screening, and maintains comprehensive records. Performs medical procedures consistent with departmental guidelines and privileges, prioritizes work, and leads projects to improve productivity. Education: Educates clients and families about medical conditions, collaborates with clinicians and staff to promote continuity of care, develops educational materials, provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries and students, and attends mandatory education programs. Leadership: Provides instruction and precepting to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries and students, participates in community and network outreach, leads community programs, improves health care delivery systems, and leads interdisciplinary teams. Professional: Interacts with patients and families respectfully and timely, collaborates with team members, resolves problems quickly, shares responsibility for workload, and maintains professional conduct. Quality/Research: Engages in daily continuous quality improvement, consults with management for problem solving, leads interdisciplinary teams, initiates and revises protocols, influences policy-making, and develops new clinical programs to improve patient care. Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (e.g., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills. Effective interaction to ensure successful patient care in the clinical setting. Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
