Employee Relations Specialist

The Employee Relations Specialist for the Employee Relations group is responsible for investigating and resolving employee relations within their region. They manage ER cases from intake to remediation, oversee ADA accommodations, and drive employee‑centered solutions while ensuring legal compliance. Responsibilities Employee/Industrial Relations Manage attendance and leave‑related matters: review trends, assess cases, counsel employees and managers, enforce policies, and partner with leadership on performance and attendance issues. Resolve minor to medium ER cases independently with oversight from ER management and stakeholders. Identify risk factors and follow manager guidance for resolution. Cases may include corrective action, progressive discipline, investigations, and terminations. Facilitate terminations, including letters, meetings, and documentation. Provide training on ER services and accommodations with the Learning department. Collaborate with internal and external counsel and other stakeholders to minimize risk. Work in unionized or works council environments to resolve minor labor grievances. Medical Accommodations Manage ADA accommodation process: intake requests, review documentation, coordinate interactive process, assess reasonable accommodations, and ensure compliance with regulations. Act as primary ER contact for accommodation requests, maintain documentation, communicate progress, and monitor effectiveness. Advocate for employees and balance company values in solution finding. Document and record approved or denied accommodations. Corrective Action Educate leaders on corrective action processes and SMART objectives. Advise management on behavior and performance issue resolution. Support managers in developing and reviewing corrective action, including performance improvement plans. Promote a culture of high performance and engagement. Special Projects / Administration Complete HR/ER related projects on schedule. Perform other duties as assigned. Maintain accurate case management records for reporting and compliance. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, organizational psychology, business, or a closely related field. Experience 1–3 years as an HR Generalist, Senior HR Operations Specialist, Employee Relations Representative, or equivalent. Experience managing minor employee relations cases. Knowledge of ADA laws and processes. Experience in a global, matrixed organization preferred. Additional Competencies Understanding of employment law at county/regional level. Strong communication skills, written and verbal. Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously. Employee, customer, and colleague focus. Organizational skills, prioritization, and deadline management. Results-oriented with a sense of urgency. Diplomacy and discretion with confidential information. Relationship building and influencing. Virtual interaction management. Labor or works council experience a plus. Bilingual: English/Spanish; Portuguese preferred.
