Associate Materials Scientist

Eurofins seeks an Associate Materials Scientist to support laboratory work on drug candidate salt forms and polymorphs in Groton, CT. The role involves solid-state characterization, particle analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to evaluate pharmaceutical substances for manufacturing and formulation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct solid-state characterization studies on pharmaceutical small molecules using contemporary analytical techniques
• Support multidisciplinary teams in designing and executing crystallization, polymorph, salt, and co-crystal screening activities
• Perform particle and surface characterization of pharmaceutical powders including size, shape, and surface properties
• Collaborate with medicinal chemistry and formulation teams to define screening strategies for solid form selection
• Maintain accurate and contemporaneous electronic laboratory notebook entries following good laboratory practices

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field plus 2+ years experience, or Master's degree
• Experience with solid-state characterization techniques (XRPD, PLM, DSC, TGA, spectroscopy)
• Strong data analysis and interpretation skills for pharmaceutical testing
• Understanding of physical, analytical, and organic chemistry principles
• Experience solving materials science problems through experimental approaches and team collaboration
• Excellent organizational skills, independent work ability, and communication proficiency
• Strong motivation to learn new technologies and concepts
