Jr. Accountant

Application Instructions

The Junior Accountant supports the accounting department with daily financial and administrative accounting functions, with exposure to construction and job cost accounting processes. This position assists with accurate data entry, reconciliations, and reporting while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and motivated to grow within a construction-focused accounting environment.

Position Description

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Support

• Assist with accounts payable and receivable processing, including data entry and invoiceverification
• Support job cost accounting activities by assisting with cost coding and tracking expenses
• Assist with bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare basic journal entries and financial schedules as assigned

Construction-Specific Duties

• Assist with project billing documentation and data entry
• Support tracking of retention, change orders, and contract values
• Assist with labor cost reporting and certified payroll documentation as needed
• Coordinate with accounting staff and project teams to help resolve billing or cost discrepancies

Compliance & Documentation

• Maintain organized and accurate financial records
• Assist with audit preparation and internal documentation requests
• Support compliance efforts related to vendors, subcontractors, and internal controls

Administrative & Team Support

• Respond to routine accounting inquiries under supervision
• Support accounting team initiatives and process improvements
• Perform additional accounting or administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or in progress)
• 0-2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (construction experience a plus)
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
