Research Assistant, Neurology (per diem)

Position Summary The Research Assistant will perform research activities using approved techniques, including patient recruitment, administering questionnaires, abstracting medical records, maintaining patient databases, and supporting grant preparation. The role also involves literature searches, data preparation, and assisting the principal investigator with interpreting experimental results and manuscript preparation. Position Research Assistant Department Neurology Location Boston, MA Schedule Per diem, On‑site Job Responsibilities Assists in data collection and provides feedback on study progress. Recruits subjects using approved methods such as referrals from healthcare providers, clinic visits, mailouts, and advertisements. Conducts enrollment of study participants, explains research procedures, and obtains informed consent. Schedules participant appointments, makes reminder calls or sends mailouts, and distributes payment vouchers for participation reimbursements. Administrative Manages program records and handles communication needs of the program. Prepares and maintains Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals and correspondence, including amendments and renewals. Performs administrative duties for the Data Monitoring and Safety Board, tracks and reports adverse events, and collects data per DSMB requirements. Handles all other administrative duties related to research activities. Education A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required by the time of hire. Experience Preferred experience in clinical research, public health, or working with children and families. Desired experience with subject recruitment and understanding of ethical and technical research conduct. Knowledge and Skills Excellent English communication skills (oral and written). Cultural sensitivity and comfort working with diverse social, racial, and ethnic populations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers; experience with statistical software is a plus. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all personal/health‑sensitive information.
