Our client is a growing plaintiff personal injury law firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. The firm represents injured clients across multiple states, including Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Texas. The firm is dedicated to helping clients pursue maximum recoveries after serious injuries, with a strong focus on motor vehicle accidents, along with matters involving medical malpractice, premises liability, workers’ compensation, nursing home negligence, and other injury-related claims. This hire will be the firm’s first Chicago-based Associate Attorney and will play an important role in supporting the firm’s growth, handling cases independently, and helping build the foundation for the Chicago office. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, self-directed plaintiff personal injury attorney who is comfortable managing a caseload with a high degree of independence. This person should have experience with litigation, arbitration, negotiations, case evaluation, and client communication. The right candidate will be a go-getter who is excited about joining a firm early, taking ownership of files, and having meaningful long-term growth potential. Key Responsibilities Manage a plaintiff personal injury caseload independently, with a primary focus on motor vehicle accident claims. Handle additional personal injury matters as needed, including medical malpractice, premises liability, workers’ compensation, nursing home negligence, and other injury-related claims. Evaluate liability, damages, medical records, treatment history, insurance coverage, and case value. Develop case strategy and move files efficiently from intake through resolution. Prepare and review pleadings, discovery, motions, demands, settlement documentation, and other litigation materials. Handle court appearances, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, AAA arbitrations, and trial preparation. Represent clients in trial, arbitration, and other contested proceedings as needed. Negotiate with insurance carriers, opposing counsel, and other parties to maximize client recovery. Work closely with the principal attorney and case managers to ensure files are moving forward, deadlines are met, and clients are well informed. Maintain regular communication with clients and provide clear guidance throughout the legal process. Contribute to the growth of a newer firm by bringing initiative, accountability, strong organization, and a willingness to help build processes as the practice expands. Qualifications 2 to 5 years of attorney experience, preferably in plaintiff personal injury. Experience handling motor vehicle accident claims strongly preferred. Trial, arbitration, and AAA arbitration experience required. Ability to independently manage a caseload from start to finish. Strong litigation, negotiation, writing, analytical, and client communication skills. Comfortable working in a growing firm environment where initiative and flexibility are important. Spanish-speaking ability is a plus. Must be licensed to practice law in Illinois. Compensation and Benefits Base salary of $160,000. 1% of gross settlements, with unlimited earning potential. Expected first-year additional compensation of approximately $50,000 to $75,000, with upside as the firm continues to grow. Full benefits package. 401(k) with 4% match. Hybrid work arrangement.
