Overview Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) is New Jersey’s academic health center that integrates teaching, clinical care, and research. The Child Health Institute (CHI) at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School specializes in immune cell biology in the lung and brain. Posting Summary Rutgers is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate who will perform and analyze experiments focused on the development and function of novel innate immune cells in tissues such as the lung and brain. The Postdoc will study how immune and non‑immune cell interactions influence disease outcomes in airway and brain disorders, participate in lab meetings and seminars, present at conferences, and prepare manuscripts. They will also contribute to grant writing and pursue personal grant funding. The position includes career development training in experimental design and communication skills. Key Duties Design, perform, and analyze experiments using flow cytometry, animal models of airway and brain disorders, single‑cell RNA‑seq, multiplex cytokine assays, and immunofluorescence imaging. Assist in establishing performance standards, selecting research methodologies, and coordinating experimental approaches to support CHI research. Keep up‑to‑date with relevant literature, aid the PI in preparing manuscripts and grant applications, and maintain clear, detailed experimental records in lab guidelines. Teach and train undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory techniques and procedures. Communicate and present data to the PI and laboratory members in a timely manner. Qualifications PhD degree required; ABD candidates considered. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Published scientific articles in peer‑reviewed journals. Effective oral and written communication skills in English. Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to work collaboratively and independently. Highly motivated, self‑driven, creative, and interactive. Physical Demands and Work Environment Work in a laboratory environment with moderate noise and hazardous chemicals. Ability to perform laboratory research and lift laboratory items. Walking, standing, and sitting required. Must pass health clearance, TB test, and required safety training. Salary Details Salary based on experience; minimum base salary $63,968. Salary range: $20,000 – $200,000. Final offer determined by qualifications, experience, and departmental or grant funds.
