Litigation Docket Specialist

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire a Litigation Docket Specialist to support our litigation practice firmwide. The Litigation Docket Specialist is expected to provide comprehensive docket reports to case teams, answer any questions that may arise, and research complex issues before escalating to their manager. Additionally, the Litigation Docket Specialist will train staff and attorneys on the Firm’s docket software and the proper procedures related to docket/calendaring, as required. Reporting to the Legal Practice Support Management team, the Litigation Docket Specialist will be able to seek guidance from the Senior Litigation Docket Specialist and the Supervisor of Legal Practice Support Operations. Flexibility to work overtime is required. Primary Responsibilities Maintain the computerized docket system for litigation attorneys practicing in multiple courts and jurisdictions. Review correspondence, pleadings, discovery, filings, and deposition notices for relevant deadlines and perform extensive daily data entry into the calendaring database according to firm‑wide and department standards. Manage complex, high‑end docketing work (e.g., scheduling orders). Research questions from attorneys, paralegals, and/or secretaries regarding deadlines, calculations of deadlines, local rules, etc. Respond to requests regarding calendared events, pleadings, and court procedures and modifications to compliance dates on the docket calendar. Reference and research court codes, state and federal statutes, court websites, and Lexis‑Nexis and Westlaw as appropriate. Enter parameters, run, print, and distribute reports as necessary. Prioritize and process requests received from attorneys, paralegals, and/or secretaries to docket litigation deadlines in active litigation for clients. Train staff and attorneys on the computerized docket system and proper procedures related to docket/calendaring on an ongoing basis as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent. A minimum of seven years of related experience. An understanding of court docketing and calendaring procedures and familiarity with court filings and general rules of court for processing pleadings at the federal, state, and county level strongly preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong proofreading skills and exceptional attention to detail. Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a wide range of individuals. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced professional environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new software programs; CompuLaw or comparable docketing software a plus. New York, NY; Century City, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Orange County, CA: $67,000 – $107,825. Seattle, WA; Washington DC: $64,700 – $103,475. San Francisco, CA; Silicon Valley, CA: $70,070 – $112,093. The base salary wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The total compensation package will also include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus. Eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan and participate in Company‑sponsored medical, dental, vision, life, disability, accidental death and dismemberment, business travel accident insurance plans, and health savings and flexible spending accounts for the employee and eligible dependents. Eligible employees may also utilize the Employee Assistance Program, Work/Life Services, Health Advocate, Bright Horizons Back‑Up Child Care, and WageWorks Commuter Benefits. Employees will receive: 9 paid holidays per calendar year, 2 personal days per year, and up to 20 days of vacation per year. Eligible employees will earn 1 paid sick leave hour for every 30 hours worked. Eligible employees may also take up to five days off for bereavement leave, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave per year, and up to 10 weeks of paid pregnancy disability leave per pregnancy.
