About the Role:

The Prep Cook plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen within a retail trade environment. This position is responsible for preparing ingredients and basic dishes to support the culinary team, maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. The Prep Cook contributes to the overall customer experience by ensuring that all food preparation tasks are completed accurately and on time. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow recipes and instructions precisely, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Ultimately, the Prep Cook helps to create a seamless food preparation process that supports the business’s reputation for quality and service.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety standards.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in a kitchen or food preparation role.
• Food Handler’s Certification or equivalent food safety training.
• Familiarity with retail food service operations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Basic knife skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and portion ingredients according to recipes and instructions provided by the kitchen management.
• Wash, peel, chop, and measure ingredients to ensure readiness for cooking or assembly.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen prep area, including proper storage of food items.
• Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages or spoilage.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure compliance with health regulations.
• Support the culinary team by performing additional tasks as needed to facilitate efficient kitchen operations.

The Prep Cook utilizes their food preparation skills daily to ensure ingredients are ready for cooking and assembly, which directly impacts the quality and timeliness of food service.
