Provider Engagement Specialist - Field Remote (Charlotte, NC)

Overview Alignment Health is seeking a proactive, relationship-driven, and highly organized Provider Engagement Specialist to join the Provider Engagement team supporting the Charlotte, NC. This field-remote role involves visiting physician practices and provider groups to improve performance across quality, growth, retention, and utilization metrics while supporting Alignment Health’s network expansion. You will build trusted relationships with providers, present performance insights, educate on Alignment programs and initiatives, and support strategies that help practices succeed while delivering high-quality care to Alignment members. Responsibilities Field-based role with approximately 80% travel between provider offices across Charlotte, NC. Manage a self-directed schedule, prepare provider performance reports, and conduct regular in-person provider meetings. Initially shadow an established market team in Raleigh, NC; occasional travel for conferences, trainings, or team meetings. Mileage and travel expenses reimbursed in accordance with company policy. Schedule primarily Monday – Friday during standard provider office hours, with flexibility for early mornings, occasional evenings, and community engagements. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with providers and staff to support growth, retention, and performance improvement. Partner with providers to improve performance on KPIs including growth, retention, AWVs, HEDIS gap closures, hospital/ER utilization, risk adjustment, and other quality indicators. Conduct initial provider onboarding and ongoing provider education on Alignment tools, clinical programs, PCP incentives, member benefits, Model of Care, and compliance requirements. Assist in developing training materials/tools; create provider in-service and implementation packets. Serve as a single point of resolution for provider issues (e.g., UM, prior authorization, claims, encounter data, eligibility, provider rosters, directory validation). Represent Alignment Health at provider meetings, trainings, and community events; document meeting minutes and action items. Utilize and maintain department databases to document provider engagement activities, visits, and outcomes. Negotiate and implement standard physician and ancillary agreements; obtain provider credentialing; track recruitment activity. Maintain weekly activity summaries and submit weekly reports; participate in staff meetings; perform special projects as assigned. Minimum Requirements Minimum Experience: 2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in provider relations/contracting with an HMO or IPA, medical group, or institutional provider required. Education/Licensure: B.A./B.S. or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other: Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred); organized, detail-oriented, self-starter; strong analytic, quantitative, and problem-solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; relationship-builder and team-player; strong presentation skills with diverse audiences; proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Travel: 80% or more travel by car routinely required in the assigned market; travel by plane as needed; reliable means of transportation, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance required.
