Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13-Week Assignment | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift (3x12, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct bedside nursing care in a stepdown/PCU unit serving a diverse patient population transitioning from ICU-level care
• Manage and monitor cardiac patients including those with CHF, MI, cardiac arrhythmias, ACS, and post-procedural cardiac conditions
• Care for respiratory patients including those with COPD, asthma exacerbations, COVID, influenza, tracheostomy, and chronic home ventilator needs; administer high-flow nasal cannula and BiPAP therapy
• Support overflow care for neurology and renal patients, as well as complex medical-surgical patients requiring heightened monitoring
• Collaborate within a Co-Care/Virtual Nursing Model alongside a virtual RN and CNA to coordinate admissions, discharges, rounding, patient education, and safety rounds
• Float to lower-acuity units, renal care, neuro, and medical-surgical units as needed to meet staffing demands

Required Qualifications

• Active Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at time of offer
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience in a PCU, stepdown, or similar acute care setting
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records
• Willingness to work weekend shifts as determined by staffing needs
• Primary residence must be located at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for cardiac patient populations including post-TAVR, MVR, pacemaker, and Angiovac patients
• Familiarity with tracheostomy care, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy
• Prior travel nursing experience with demonstrated adaptability across unit types
