Carpenter Job Responsibilities: 

Under the supervision of the Lead Carpenter/Foreman, the Carpenter will complete assigned tasks and responsibilities to the highest standard. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assessing the worksite and understanding what needs to be completed for the project to move forward.
• Understanding the construction process and anticipating the next steps needed to complete the project.
• Following proper safety procedures and maintaining a safe work environment at all times.
• Working professionally and effectively both independently and as part of a team, while communicating and coordinating with other trades and professionals on the project.
• Performing a variety of construction tasks throughout each project, including carpentry, painting, framing, decking, drywall, flooring installation, tile work, and general jobsite maintenance and cleanup.
• Learning and understanding applicable building codes and construction standards.
• Developing knowledge of various trades and continually advancing skills through hands-on, on-the-job training.
• Completing assigned tasks thoroughly and cleaning the work area before moving on to the next assignment.
• Taking pride in craftsmanship and maintaining a high standard of quality throughout each project.

Educational Background: 

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures, including heat up to 100&degree;F and cold as low as -20&degree;F.
• Reliable transportation to and from various job sites.
• Ability to safely and efficiently work from ladders and scaffolding.
• Ability to safely operate a variety of power and motorized construction tools.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to ask questions and seek clarification when unsure of how to complete a task safely or correctly.
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

• At least 1 year of experience in the construction industry.
• Licensed in a skilled trade, or currently attending or graduated from a trade school.
• Experience in residential remodeling is a plus.

Work Schedule:  

Monday–Thursday | 7:30 AM–5:30 PM

Job sites are generally located within a 30-mile radius of Grand Rapids, Michigan. 

Compensation & Benefits: 

• Competitive pay: $17.00–$26.00 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education.
• Semiannual employee performance reviews.

• Paid federal holidays, plus Good Friday.
• 2 weeks of paid time off following a successful 60-day review.
• $250 annual clothing allowance.
