Key Responsibilities\n

• Psychosocial Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments utilizing an understanding of human behavior, psychosocial factors, and ethical considerations to inform treatment plans promptly.

• Clinical Interventions: Provide supportive counseling to patients and their families. Facilitate family conferences, assist families in making challenging decisions such as hospice care and advance directives, and strengthen family communication with healthcare providers.

• Case Management: Efficiently manage a clinical caseload, identifying high-risk situations and collaborating with Case Managers for discharge planning. Maintain a balance between new referrals and ongoing patient needs.

• Legal and Ethical Standards: Uphold ethical principles in all assessments and interventions, including adherence to patient rights and reporting suspected abuse in line with established guidelines.

• Documentation: Maintain thorough and timely documentation adhering to hospital policies, including Interdisciplinary Plans of Care, Social Services Progress Notes, and related forms.

• Staff Education: Provide in-service training to colleagues regarding psychosocial issues affecting patient care, fostering a deeper understanding of these challenges across our healthcare team.

• Quality Improvement: Participate in initiatives designed to enhance patient care quality, contributing to the development, monitoring, and analysis of process and outcome indicators.

• Additional Duties: Engage in Social Work Month events and develop cancer-specific support groups, as well as educational programs for patients and staff.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

In this role, you will work with terminally ill patients and their families, addressing their complex emotional and sociocultural needs. Qualifications\n

• Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution, demonstrating advanced theoretical knowledge and practical application.

• A minimum of two years of direct social work experience within a medical setting, with at least one year specifically in oncology or hospice care preferred.

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) certification valid in California.
\n
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from an accredited provider is required.

Compensation and Benefits\n

Keck Medical Center of USC offers a competitive annual salary range of $120,000 – $130,000, commensurate with experience.
