This role involves assembling mechanical components and panels using hand and power tools in a metal manufacturing environment. You work from blueprints, prepare panels for painting, package completed assemblies, and support multiple departments through cross-training. The position requires flexibility, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to quality and safety on a 2nd shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assemble hatches and panels using hand and power tools such as drills, wrenches, screwdrivers, torque tools, and tape measures.
• Read and interpret blueprints to complete mechanical assemblies accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare panels for painting by installing insulation and hanging panels on hooks.
• Package completed assemblies, verify accuracy of parts and quantities, and prepare orders for shipment.
• Cross-train in various departments to provide coverage and support where needed.
• Perform basic mechanical tasks that demonstrate mechanical aptitude, such as work similar to auto or oil change environments.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area in a metal manufacturing setting.
• Lift and move materials and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of mechanical assembly experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, including drills, wrenches, screwdrivers, and torque tools.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical components.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in environments similar to auto or oil change shops.
• Comfort working with metal components and assemblies.
• Willingness to cross-train and work in various departments as needed.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment.

Work Environment

This is a 2nd shift position with typical hours from approximately 2:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday. When overtime is required, Friday hours may extend to approximately 2:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., and occasional Saturday work is possible. The role is based in a metal manufacturing facility with conditions similar to an auto body shop, including a dirtier, hands-on environment. The shop is non-union. You regularly work with metal components, hand and power tools, and production equipment in a setting that emphasizes safety and productivity, with attire appropriate for a manufacturing and fabrication environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brooklyn Park, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $20.50/hr.
