Attorney - Premises Liability Dual Licensed in GA and TNPosition OverviewWe are seeking a motivated Attorney - Premises Liability to defend property owners, businesses, and insurers in premises liability and related general liability matters. The attorney will manage a litigation caseload from intake through resolution, develop defense strategies, handle discovery and motions, negotiate settlements, and, where necessary, try cases. This role requires strong courtroom advocacy, sound judgment, and effective collaboration with claims teams and clients to reduce exposure and achieve favorable outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesManage a docket of premises liability and related general liability cases from intake through disposition, including trial and appeals as required.Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, analyze facts, consult experts, and formulate defense strategies to minimize client exposure.Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other court documents in a timely and professional manner.Prepare for and take depositions, examine and cross-examine witnesses, and represent clients at hearings, mediations, and trials.Negotiate settlements with plaintiffs, opposing counsel, and insurance carriers while balancing client objectives and cost considerations.Coordinate with claims adjusters, in-house counsel, outside experts, and paralegals to ensure efficient case management and compliance with deadlines.Perform legal research and prepare memoranda on substantive and procedural issues relevant to premises liability and general civil defense.Manage case budgets, billing, and documentation in the firms case management system; ensure accurate and timely client communications.Train and supervise junior attorneys and support staff as needed, and contribute to process improvements and risk management initiatives.QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing.3+ years of litigation experience with significant experience defending premises liability claims; experience in general liability and civil defense strongly preferred.Proven trial experience or substantial courtroom exposure, including taking depositions and arguing motions.Strong written and oral advocacy skills, legal research ability, and experience drafting complex pleadings and dispositive motions.Demonstrated skill in settlement negotiation, case evaluation, and risk management for clients and insurers.Ability to manage a heavy caseload, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain meticulous file organization.Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw/LEXIS), case management software, and standard office technology.Professional demeanor, excellent client-facing skills, sound judgment, and integrity.Desired skills: General Liability, Civil Defense, Premises Liability.
