Lead Software Engineer - Data & Applied AI - Jersey City

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least 5 years of applied experience
• Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience building data pipelines with AWS and Databricks
• Advanced skills in Java, Spring, SQL, Python, and Spark
• Proficiency in automation, continuous delivery, and all aspects of the software development life cycle
• Advanced understanding of agile methods, CI/CD, application resilience, and security
• Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes in a technical discipline such as cloud, AI, machine learning, or mobile
• Experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted development tools for activities such as coding, code review, testing, and troubleshooting, including setting standards for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resilience expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption
• Applied AI experience, including LangChain, LangGraph, agentic workflows, or AIOps, is preferred

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions, using sound judgment to address complex technical problems
• Build secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others
• Identify ways to prevent or automate the resolution of recurring issues to improve application and system stability
• Lead evaluations with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical capabilities, and fit with existing systems and information architecture
• Lead software engineering communities of practice to encourage awareness and adoption of emerging technologies
• Promote team use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes
• Establish consistent validation practices, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and encourage reuse of effective approaches
• Apply software development life cycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation
