POSITION SUMMARY 

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the overall and day-to-day management of Accounting functions, including payroll processing. This position will work closely with the Controller to develop, implement and ensure ongoing accurate timely payments to vendors, employees (etc.) and proper internal processing to GL accounts and documentation of same. The position serves as back up for Controller. Other accounting related tasks may be required in order to support the Accounting Team.

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Manage the day-to-day activities of accounting processes.
• Perform weekly payroll responsibilities including processing, reconciling and editing in coordination with Human Resources.
• Perform month and year-end general ledger entries and adjustments within area of responsibility.
• Develop standard costs; maintain and update annually (or as needed) using bills of material and budgeted labor and overhead rates.
• Create various inventory and cost analyses for management as needed.
• Prepare and balance amortization schedules, loans, prepaid expenses, etc.
• Prepare and file required IRS reports including Sales and Use Tax Returns, W2s, 1099s, etc.
• Review AP accuracy
• Oversea collection activities of AR
• Maintain and optimize cost accounting systems, BOMs, and variance analyses within SAGE ERP.
• Monitor AP purchasing process and train others who purchase by reinforcing delivery dates, negotiating terms for payments, shipments, GL account numbers, etc.
• Manage fixed assets
• Manage 401K contributions and reconciliation
• Assist annual audit preparation, tax schedules, and internal controls testing for GAAP compliance.
• Provide support for annual 401K audit preparation
• Assist with implementation of new SAGE ERP system as it relates to Accounting functions.
• Perform cost analysis: Track costs in SAGE ERP material, direct labor & variable manufacturing costs, in conjunction with Controller to submit weekly reports to management.
• Support company mission and values in all responsibilities.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 5 yrs general accounting experience; preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Minimum 3 yrs supervisory experience
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of accounting principles
• Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and accounting software
• Strong financial analysis skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• BS in Accounting or Finance with strong accounting background
